Sculptures

My practice is driven by the necessity of translation—the arduous, vital process of taking the intangible, the unseen, or the ephemeral, and forcing it into concrete, undeniable presence. In a world defined by acceleration and the constant threat of erasure, sculpture becomes an act of intentional weight and resilience. It is a refusal to let the fundamental truths of our existence remain abstract. 

This presentation brings together two distinct, yet interconnected, lines of inquiry that explore how we anchor ourselves in a world perpetually in flux: 

Through Reality Download, I intervene in the contemporary struggle between the digital and the physical. This series confronts the pervasive disconnect of the screen, manifesting the raw data—the Ethernet packets and fragmented information—as heavy, corporeal matter. Each piece is a moment of digital consciousness forcibly rendered back into the sensory world, challenging the viewer to appreciate the weight and form of the authentic, non-streamed reality. 

Simultaneously, Forged Self investigates the deep, historical fractures of cultural selfhood and displacement. Using materials that evoke both organic history and industrial imposition, this work explores the stress and strains of forging a resilient identity. These heavy, permanent markers are acts of protest and preservation, reclaiming narratives of fusion and resistance—from the Taino heritage to the sorrow of the diaspora. They assert the undeniable presence of a people who refuse to be erased by distance, industry, or the changing landscape of home. 

Ultimately, both series speak to the same principle: that authenticity is forged, not streamed. Whether translating abstract data into tangible form or embodying historical struggle into enduring metal, these sculptures invite you to re-engage with the material weight of being here, now.
